Welcome to CFC
Congolese Family Centre (CFC) is the First Family Centre set up to respond to the emotional and other urgent needs of the Congolese and other French/Lingala speaking African families living in the UK who English is not their first language facing several barriers for their social inclusion including culture, language, poverty, isolation and incompatibility education background amongst many others. In addition the mainstream service providers are not reaching them with an appropriate support and services due to the difficulties of communication and culture misunderstanding as well as building trust.
A Brief History
CONGOLESE FAMILY CENTRE (CFC) is the new name of BANTU WELFARE FUTURE BUILDER established in 2001, the former lead organisation of the UK Congolese Safeguarding Action Group (UKCSAG) – a collaborative partnership of 5 key Congolese and other African Lingala speaking organisations set up in March 2006, under City Parochial Foundation and Trust for London’s Special Initiative on Safeguarding Children’s Rights. The Congolese Family Centre responds to the need for key Congolese community groups to consolidate and collaborates in order to avoid duplication and to better protect, promote and improve the welfare quality and conditions of life for Congolese children and their families in the UK and abroad victims of evil spirit possessions and witchcraft accusation.
The main raison of the change of our organisation’s name is to increase focus on the FAMILY, which is the base of our society.
“Everyone knows for sure that the family is the base of any society”
“The base is the foundation! Taking care of the base of anything is the sure evidence of securing the future, strengthening the base is the real insurance of the longevity.”
Therefore CFC has a vital role in bridging the gap in service between our targeted communities and the service providers, to strengthening the sustainability of the Congolese and other French/Lingala speaking African families, which is one of the piece of puzzle composing the base of the British society to help them to fully participate into the Big Society to become active citizen to enable their full integration into the British Society.
CFC’s outreach strategy is fueled by our culturally and linguistically community Media TV programme tools to break all the barriers affecting our targeted communities to access information and mainstream services. This helps us to reach the most isolated and hard to reach people within our targeted communities and enable our working visibility in UK wide spectrum.
We have an independent branch in Manchester called MANCHESTER BANTU WELFARE and we have also set up in partnership with CocoricoLikita, an affiliation organization called FONDATION BANTU COCORICO in Kinshasa/DRC.
